Spotlight on Cork with a Poetry Reading by Simon Lewis

                                                         Cork-Synagogue1-1024x768 The Jewish Community of Cork has made significant contribution to the literary and artistic cultural life in Ireland.  To celebrate winning the Hennessey Prize for emerging poetry, Simon Lewis will give a reading of his poems from his collection “Jewtown”, inspired by the history of the Cork community. Reflection and discussion on the legacy of the Jews of Cork.

simonlewis-square (2)Simon Lewis is a primary school principal in Carlow Educate Together. He is a member of the Carlow Writers Group. He was the winner of the 2015 Hennessey Prize for Emerging Poetry and featured in Poetry Ireland’s Poetry Introductions Series recently. He has been shortlisted for the Listowel Poetry Prize and Bridport Prize in 2014 and received special commendation in the Dromineer Literary Prize and the Patrick Kavanagh Poetry Awards the same year. He has also been published in many literary journals and magazines including Boyne Berries, Blue Max Review, Irish Literary Review, Silver Apples and Deep Water.
