A Glimpse into the Past: Highlights from the Photographic Collection of the Irish Jewish Museum
The Irish Jewish Museum claimed the prize in Dublin City from the 2021 National Heritage Week Awards presented by The Heritage Council. Its project, ‘Highlights from the Photographic Collection of the Irish Jewish Museum’, focused on the presentation of a selection of images from Jewish life in Ireland over the past 130 years.
The museum has chosen a selection of images from Jewish life in Ireland over the past 130 years to be presented in a narrated powerpoint presentation. The images are taken from one of many albums in the collection currently being catalogued at the Irish Jewish Museum thanks to a grant from the Heritage Council Ireland. The images depict certain aspects of Irish Jewish history and offer an insight into the community.
This album is not intended as a chronological or comprehensive treatment of events but rather a glimpse into the unique cultural history of the Jews of Ireland. This is part of a project to digitise the collection at the museum and make it more available through our website.
