Rabbi David Rosen held the position of Chief Rabbi of Ireland from 1979 to 1985 and is now Honorary Advisor on Interfaith Relations to the Chief Rabbinate of Israel. Rabbi Rosen was a member of the Permanent Bilateral Commission of the State of Israel and the Holy See that negotiated the establishment of full diplomatic normalization of relations between the two.
In November 2005 he was made a Papal Knight Commander of the Order of St. Gregory the Great for his contribution to promoting Catholic-Jewish reconciliation and in 2010 was made CBE (Commander of the British Empire) by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II for his contribution to interfaith relations.
