On 19 December 1932 Mr Arthur Newman, Chairman of the Building Committee for the new Zion School laid its foundation stone at a ceremony whichwas preceded by prayers recited by Rev, Dr. Herzog and Rev. Gudansky in the presence of a large gathering.
At a reception in Rathmines Hall that evening Mr. Newman was presented with a silver trowel with an ivory handle in a black case with satin and velvet lining to thank him for his leadership and generosity with the provision of an Jewish school for the children of the community.
